Why Spain are Suddenly AMAZING Again! (The Tiki-Taka Paradox)

For the first time in 16 years, the Spanish National Team’s remarkable run of 136 consecutive matches with more possession than their opponents has finally ended. In the opening Euro 2024 game of Group B, Croatia had controlled 53% of the ball. However, it was Spain that emerged victorious.

Rather than lament the demise of this possession-based golden era, however, many are heralding it as the dawn of an exciting new chapter for La Roja, who now look like real contenders to win Euro 2024.

In this video, we’ll explore Spain’s storied successes with ‘tiki-taka’, explore the key factors driving their shift away from that philosophy, and examine what this could mean for the national team’s future.

Tiki-taka was a blessing for us back in 08-12, but it also became a terrible burden since then, when our coaches kept playing the same way over and over and over despite the fact we didn't have the right players to execute this idea anymore. As a result, we sucked from 2014 to 2023 (yes, you're right: we made it to the semifinals in 2021 and we even won the Nations League last year, but at the cost of being boring as Hell). Thank God Luis de la Fuente was able to see what went wrong, fixed it and now we're back! 🏆

the heavily tiki-taka era was an anomally even for spanish gameplsy style, an anomally that can only success when you those extremely good players at the same time… now what we have just see during the Euro2024 is the "regular" spanish teams gameplay, the one that was used for the young teams of spain in under21, under18, etc… where spanish usually where performing good… actually many fans where hopping some day we could see that style of gameplay, more balanced and dynamic, with the 'adults" team… it looks De la Fuente finally made it… but Im afraid if once Pedri and Gabi are back on the starting eleven gameplay will go back to the slow tiki-taka version again
